Paul Carrack’s illustrious career begins yet another exciting chapter of live performance by taking his sold out 2020 UK concert tour to the virtual stage.
Following the disappointing cancellation of shows throughout 2020 in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany due to the global pandemic, Paul has brought his incredible six-piece band together with the full touring production for this very special, one of a kind concert that US fans will not want to miss. Filmed back in September using twelve cameras at the magnificent Victoria Hall in Leeds, this spectacular two-hour performance features Carrack's classic hits such as ‘How Long’, ‘Over My Shoulder’, ‘The Living Years’ and ‘Tempted’, amongst many others.
Paul first started thinking about how he could give fans around the world the opportunity to see his 2020 live show after seeing Nick Cave’s streamed concert at Alexandra Palace in July. Paul said,“We had a whole year of touring lined-up, and we managed to play the majority of our UK tour dates before the lockdown. However, we had to cancel all the tour dates we had lined-up for the rest of the year across Europe, Australia and Japan. When I saw Nick Cave’s streamed concert at the Ally Pally I started exploring how we could deliver a full-production event but at a fraction of the cost of a normal gig ticket. I’m thrilled with how everything turned out and can’t wait for people to see it.”
Paul admits performing in such a large venue without an audience felt strange at first. He said,“It did feel a bit weird, but after the first minute or so the sheer joy of being able to perform with my whole band under the lights took over. It felt like a joyous victory for the band and crew just to be able to do what we do: put on the best show we can for everyone to enjoy, albeit for one night only.”
Touring since the age of 17, the Sheffield-born Carrack wrote and sang 'How Long,' the much-covered 1974 classic from his days with Ace, and was the voice of 'Tempted,' from his tenure with Squeeze. Then came such hits with Mike + the Mechanics as 'The Living Years' and 'Over My Shoulder,' the latter a co-write with Mike Rutherford.
Since the turn of the 2000s, he has built a loyal fan base through his Carrack-UK record label, and his frequent, extensive tours are eagerly awaited by legions of admirers. His solo catalogue boasts much-loved signature songs such as 'Satisfy My Soul,' 'Eyes Of Blue,' and 'That's All That Matters To Me.'
'Love Will Keep Us Alive' (co-written with Jim Capaldi and Peter Vale) was covered by the Eagles and won an ASCAP Award for Song of the Year, and Carrack's collaboration with Nick Lowe, 'Battlefield,' was recorded by Diana Ross. As an in-demand musician on record and stage, his credits already included The Smiths, Elton John, Roxy Music, B.B. King and many more, before he accepted Eric Clapton's invitation to join his touring band.
Dubbed "The Man With The Golden Voice" by the BBC, Paul Carrack remains Britain's best blue-eyed soul singer, creator and interpreter of songs that are part of pop history.
This fantastic event will be available to stream via smart TVs, laptops, PCs, smartphones and tablets on December 3rd at 8:30pm (Eastern Time). Tickets on sale from November 9th.
