On August 14th a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck southwest Haiti. Over 15,000 Compassion children were impacted by this earthquake: 16 tragically died, while others lost family members, homes, and their sense of safety. After the dust settles and the media moves on, Compassion and the Haitian church aren’t leaving. We’re called to rebuild as an act of hope and love.
But what are we rebuilding? When we look at the task ahead of us, we don’t see bricks and mortar. It’s so much more than sanctuaries, classrooms or houses. We’re building hope and second chances. We’re calling out the resilience in a community deeply loved and remembered by God. For the last 52 years, Compassion has come alongside the Haitian church to support the work they’re already doing: investing in their community by empowering children to thrive.
Join us on October 28 for a virtual event to celebrate the legacy of faithful service and hear about Compassion’s response to the earthquake and our continued commitment to rebuild.
We want to invite you into one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding projects we can do —we’re rebuilding with more than bricks and mortar. Together we are putting our hands, head and heart to rebuild the church – the light that has already transformed Haiti. We’re building legacy. And we want you to join us.
